City and Guilds 2330 or EAL VRQ Level 3

The 2330 is the technical certificate that currently supports the NVQ. It is broken down into 2 levels, level 2 and level 3. It covers the fundamentals of health and safety, electrical science and principles, installation techniques, inspection and testing and relevant regulations.

City and Guilds 2382 or EAL Level 3 in Requirements for Electrical Installations

The newest version of BS7671 demands quite a few changes for experienced and new entrants into the electrical industry. The 17th Edition has 2 options, the traditional C&G route or the newer EAL option. Both are acceptable and recognised towards competence.

City and Guilds 2391 or EAL Level 3 in Inspection and Testing

Designed to recognise the experienced individual with a formal qualification. Currently the most difficult of exams it is expected for an average electrican to complete, it has a low pass rate. It consists of an external written, closed book paper and 4 practical assessments.

City and Guilds 2392

Introduced as an interim qualification to address the low pass rate of the 2391, the C&G2392 is designed for those with limited experience in inspection and testing to bring their knowledge up to speed to complete the 2391. It is at level 2 and is assessed via a 50 question multi choice exam and practical assessments.

Certificate for Domestic Electrical Installers

A course originally designed to upskill related trades in preparation for the intriduction of Part P of the Building Regulations. It is set at level 2 and purely focuses on domestic installations. It does not qualify you as an electrician but can help with registration with a relevant competent persons scheme.
